Internet Explorer 6 re-install? 1

I think my IE is screwed up unless it is XP itself. I get the message "shortcut to javascript: openSubWin ('

http://..........)

with lots of sites and I cannot download, etc from the new site. (When I enter just the site I can get to the site so that is not the problem)

Tried to re-install IE. but it said already installed. Is there a way to repair or re-install IE 6 under XP. I searched the registry thinking that the error message might show up in it but no. Any suggestions on how to fix this error would be appreciated. Thanks.
