IE6 keeps displaying "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close ... blah blah"

BUT this only happens when i press a key on the keyboard, i oringinally thought the obvious A VIRUS but McAfee with latest defs does not detect one.

Ive uninstalled IE and re-installed and it seems ok for a little while then same thing happens.

only real other info i have is:

Error Signature
AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer:6.0.2800.1106
ModName: wbhook32.dll ModVer: 6.2.1019.0
Offset: 00005d62

This is on Win 2k machine and has only started happening recently maybe since installing service pack 3 but im not sure.

any info welcome and thanx in advance,

What version of McAfee? I did a Google search and found a thread from this forum that describes a hot fix.

Aye thanks MSeng, it sure is McAfee thats the cause of this as i turned it off and the prob dissapeared, so ive gone back to Nortons as a temperary measure until i find more on it.

Thanx agian mate

I have a similar problem with one of my customers. They are running win 98. They loaded the AOL Blue Broadband disk. After that they lost AOL dialup connecticity as well as no Cable connectivity. I am able to us the dialup adapter to dial into an ISP but IE5 causes an error on opening (unknown module). Opera does the same (Opera user module) and AOL dialup dials connects shows startup screens then (unkown module error). I have installed a win 98 SE upgrade. Had turned off McAfee but still no good. My next step is to remove IE thru the add/remove in C-Panel as is suggested by Bill Gates(well not personally). Any pther ideas? Their AOL dialup was working before.
Thanks,

Michael
