Internet Explorer 6 faulty installation

I run W2k Prof. ( SP4 ), with IE 6 SP1. My problem is the pop-up when clicking on a ( javascript ) link does not work.
This is a serious issue, as it's a very basic property. I also have ZoneAlarm Pro & NAV 2003 running. Could it be something to do with these programs. I don't have any pop-up stoppers in place, except for ZA itself. I switched the privacy & ad-stopper off in ZA, but to no effect. I've also uninstalled & reinstalled IE6, again to no effect.
Any help would be appreciated.
