I have a customer that corrupted their IE on their desktop and now it has red X's were the pictures are located. They are running XP Pro.)

I downloaded a new version of IE 6.0 and then removed it from the desktop. I also removed all associations in the regedit field. I then tried to load the new version, but it said previous version running on machine unable to load new version of IE.

Is there a way to load the new version. And if so, will it stop the red X's from appearing.

Go to Start -> Run type in msinfo32.exe when it opens the window go to Tools -> System Restore. If you know the date when the individual corrupted IE you can restore it to a previous date and that should resolve the unable to load issue. Windows automatically creates restore points.

The red X's is a JAVA error. Reload JAVA

If anyone calls and says "I know a little something about computers" just tell them to reformat it.

Try tools>internet options>multimedia and make sure show pictures is checked.
