I AM RUNNING WINDOWS 2000 PRO ISP WILL OPEN AND CONNECT BUT EXPLORER WILL NOT OPEN A BOX OPENS THAT SAYS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND TI WILL SEND A REPORT TO MICROSOFT AND IT WILL RESTART EXPLORER. WHEN IT DOES IT DOES THE SAME THING UNABLE TO OPEN INTERNET EXPLORER.

I HAVE REINSTALLED EXPLORER WITH SAME RESULTS. IN SAFE MODE IT WORKS FINE. HAVE RUN VIRUS, DEFRAG, AND SPY WARE PROGRAMS AND HAVE CLEANED THAT UP BUT THIS PROBLEM STILL HANGS ON.

ALSO MAYBE CONNECTED WHEN CLICKING ON MY COPUTER ICON, OR MY DOCUMENTS I GET EXPLORER.EXE HAS GENERATED ERRORS AND WILL BE CLOSED BY WINDOWS. UNABLE TO OPEN CONTROL PANEL . MSCONFIG SAYS FILES MISSING.

ANY IDEAS

THANKS

Did you find a virus? It sounds like you have a virus and/or spyware, or the malwares that were there did damage to the os. Based on the symptoms you are describing, it sounds like time for format and reinstall windows on your hard drive. Backup all data first.

Matt J.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.
