Internet Email doesn't get forwarded with Out of Office Assistant

Hi,
I have two Exchange 5.5 (SP3) servers in the same site, one of which has the IMC. Outlook 2000's out of office assistant can be set to forward all new email sent to its mailbox to another internal mailbox. If the original mailbox is on the server with the IMC this works fine. However if the original mailbox is on the server without the IMC only internal mail is forwarded, internet mail is left in the original mailboxes inbox.

Try using the alternate receipient function in Exchange Admin. All the mail can be sent to either one mailbox or both.

Thanks, though the alternate recipient function would work, I'm looking for a solution or a reason for the behaviour. I'm adminstering 2500 mailboxes and don't really want to get involved every time someone important goes on holiday.

I know this is more than likely somthing you have already done. Have you checked out TechNet article Q176161. This details how to check if Auotforwarding of Messages to the internet has been disabled. Apparently there is a check box in the Internet Mail Service that relates to this. You've probably already been there but I thought i'd mention. Good luck!!!

No, I'm not allowed to forward emails TO the internet. The problem I'm having is forwarding email FROM the internet to another mailbox from the client side. This works for the mailboxes on the server with the IMC on it, but doesn't for the server without the IMC.
Just thought I would bring this problem back to the top in case someone has come across this problem.
