Hello, I am a Windows XP user on one computer and a Windows 98 user on another computer of mine.

For some reason, on my Windows 98 computer, the Internet does not work all the time.

I tried changing the NIC, or the Network card, but that did not work. I'm considering re-installing WIndows 98 Second Edition on it, but I hope I don't have to.

I also tried re-connected the Ethernet cord from the computer and to the Ethernet switch. That did not work, either.

So is anything else I can try? Perhaps something else?

Hi! Have you tried to go into device manager (right click my computer, properties, device manager, network adapters, locate your NIC, right click it, remove it); restart your machine and reinstall the driver. Try that first and see if it works. Good luck!

are you connected through a hub or how. our provider here will only allow a single ip adress. so i either have to assign a subnet mask. or run through a hub ect. or drop the ip adress on one computer and pick it up on the other one.

Ok, I fixed the problem already. Please do not post any more messages to this question. Thank you for all your help!
