I've got a BEFW11S4 wireless B router and a WPC11 Wireless B Notebook Adapter and i'm having a lot of difficulty getting this network to work properly. I've got a desktop PC that connects through the router via ethernet cable and i'm trying to get a laptop to connect to it via wireless. The desktop computer works fine, and but does disconnect at sometimes, but the notebook computer will connect to the router (sometimes not even) and then say 10-40 seconds later it disonnects again. It occasionally but rarely will stay connected for longer than that and eventually disconnects anyways.
The laptop is running winXP sp2, the same as the desktop. I've updated the firmware and the drivers, and still no luck. Any advice or suggestions?

Thanks!

Looks like you may have two problems...

(1) When you say "The desktop computer works fine, and but does disconnect at sometimes", do you mean it loses the connection to the router or to the Internet? If the former, what symptoms show this disconnection?

(2) The laptop losing wireless connection could be down to signal levels.

I guess you're probably connecting this router to a cable modem. If we assume it's an Internet problem, does the cable modem given any indication that the signal is lost? Have you spoken to your service provider about this?

How far away is the laptop from router? If you bring the laptop within a couple of feet of the router, do you still get the same dropout? There will be an indication of the (wireless) signal strength in the laptop, probably within the Linksys software.

Make sure the network adaptor in the desktop and the PCMCIA adaptor in the laptop are both set NOT to enable power saving.

In the wireless configuration disable (uncheck) 802.1x authentication.

If in the advanced properties of the driver itself, disable Bluetooth collaberation if enabled.
