i've been trying to connect using a modem connection to the internet. i've used "Internet-druid" to configurate the connection but how do i dial? (i know it sounds stupid but help...) i mean - using KDE, there must be somthing i should click on inorder to dial, right?

Hi,

I haven't had time to check redhat 7.2 in detail but reading this ( it seems they have configured some kind of dial-on-demand system. In theory all you do is open your browser and, presumably that causes the dialer to spring into life. It may use wvdial behind the scenes - see 'man wvdial'.

Hope this helps

If you are using KDE, just use the kde menu (the one like the windows start menu) to open the kppp application. A nice little dialog box pops up with a connect button. Sorry if this sound a little vague -- I'm having trouble getting Linux to recognize my modem I think. It keeps saying 'modem already in use'. Otherwise I would be doing this from Linux and I could tell you exactly where to find kppp.

If anyone knows why I keep getting 'modem already in use' messages when I try to connect (I have gone through all the steps to set up kppp correctly, /dev/modem points to my com 3 port ttyS2 where my modem is, etc.) I would be grateful for any assistance. I'm using Mandrake 8.0, internal modem.
