2 Computers connected by NIC's and CAT 5 cable. Both Setup in a workgroup called "workgroup". Computer one "main" has a cable modem connection to the internet, need help in getting computer 2 "secondary" to be able to share computer ones cable modems connection so that they can both surf the internet

You need to purchase a router that is NAT enabled. Then you will need to plug your cable modem Enet port into your router WAN port. Your PC's then plug into any available Enet ports on the router. Configure for a private network and you should be able to share your broadband connection.

MaxPipeline, 4326 does not need to purchase a router to use windows ICS.

It depends on his network configuration. Sure you can have computer1 act as a proxy server for computer2, but computer1 would need to be left on in order for computer2 to access the Internet. A router is a more simple, elegant and overall more secure solution. Plus with the cheap price of routers nowadays, it sure makes sense.

I don't disagree with any of that, but that really wasn't the original question.
