I have a windows xp pro machine that connects to the internet using a USB ADSL modem. The machine has 2 NICS. I want to have another Windows XP machine connected to one and an Airport Express wireless base station connected to the other, sharing the internet connection with both.

Please can someone explain if this is possible and how I do it. I get very confused with the IP addresses so I would be really grateful if you could explain whether I need to set a manual address or obtain automatically.

Thanks in advance.

Compositor,

Unless there is some specific reason that you are using 2 NIC's, to accomplish what I believe you want does not require 2 NIC's.

As you are invested in the AIR Port base, that has but one RJ-45 connector, an economical un-managed switch would be a clean method. The AirPort would be plugged into the LAN port of the switch and the PC's would be plugged into the switch. But for little more you could obtain a router w/firewall and use the AirPort as your WAP.

On the XP boxes, you would then run the Network Setup Wizard to setup a home network.

These ae links to examples of what I have suggested:

5 Port Switch

DSL Router/Firewall

Hope This is Clear and Helps

Thanks rvnguy for the reply.

I have got a couple of questions. First of all..would you connect the USB modem to the USB port on the Airport and then the ethernet port of the Airport into the LAN port on the switch? Would this work?

Secondly...it is my mistake when I first posted but what I originally meant was can you turn on ICS on the first XP machine and share it with the bridged NICS? If so, how exactly do you set it up and what IP's do I use on the Airport?

Thanks again Rvnguy!
