I use Internet Connection Sharing to connect two computers to the internet. It used to work well, but now the client is veerrryyy slooooww at loading pages, and often hangs.

Server is Win 2000. Everything on it works fine.
Client is Win 98. Outlook works fine. IE starts properly, only loading pages is slow. If I connect client computer straight to internet, IE works at proper speed. LAN is 100MHz and is good for everything else.

I tried using but the 4th page refuses to load.

In the abstract, it is a little tough to give advice. As long as your ipconfig /all results appear normal:

ICS Host: 192.18.0.1
ICS Client: 192.168.x.x
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS Server(s): 192.168.0.1

There are some subtle things about ICS Configuration, and perhaps a registry cleaner or spyware cleaner has removed some needed entries:
In the alternative, perhaps some adware or spyware has infected either/both Host and client. See faq608-4650, and start the cleaning process on the Host machine.

Thank-you Bcastner.

I've tried all your suggestions.

Adware found problems and improved marginally.

Alas I still have the problem, incredibly slow browsing.

I've noticed one other thing. After entering a URL the client machine browser comes up with "Web site found....", "Opening page http......" and the progress bar moves to half way very quickly. It is after that it slows to a crawl or stops altogether.
