First of all, let me say I am new to networking.

I have a very simple ethernet setup: 1 Win 2000 server, several nodes. There is one thing different though... I couldn't get any modem to work in my server (still don't know why) so I set up a separate computer for the internet connection. It is connected to the network through the server just like all the others. I am using internet connection sharing. It connects just fine, and all of the computers can access the internet, but occassionally - it seems to be random - all the client computers and the server will lose the connection. The dial-up machine is still connected and can still view web pages and send and receive data, but all the other machines are disconnected. Any ideas?

Do all the other machines stay disconnected or do they seem to hang up for a while and then pick up the connection?

Might check microsoft tech. Saw something in there somewhere about using TCP/IP for both LAN and dialup applications on the same machine causing an intermittent hangup. Also, unbind all protocols you're not using from the NIC's and the modem.

Sometimes they pick up the connection again, but, most of the time, they stay disconnected.
