Hi,

We have several location that require ICS to connect client PCs to the internet. There is a server PC that acts as a DHCP server for 2-3 LAN clients. in one case, one of the clients can get to the internet, but another client can not.

After installing Symantec firewall SCS 3.1, about 2 weeks later, the client PCs can not get to our home page on the internet and the credit card verification web site. The server PC can get to all web sites.

I removed the client firewall from all PCs. They still can not get to these specific web sites. Symantec Gold support says it can't be the 3.1 software, because it has been removed. We never had this issue until the install of SCS 3.x.

Let's say Symantec is not the problem. Whatelse could cause this? I have to entertain all suggestions.

I have to remote control these dial-up PCs and it is murderously slow! Any suggestions prior to digging into the registry would be a great help!

Thanks,

Vince

Hmmmm...
You say you use ICS, but then you say you have it as a DHCP server, and so there must be a switch there somewhere. If there is a switch I dont think this will fix it, but it's worth a shot:

And way down bottom I had replied if the MTU numbers that they give you dont work try 548 instead.

yes, ICS automatically becomes the DHCP server for the clients that are set to 'obtain IP automatically'. usually the IP is 192.168.0.2-254. The cleints can be give an IP manually.

I have that artical. I'll try it.

let you know...
