I have a wireless card and lan card on my Win 2k laptop and would like to share my connection with another computer sitting right next to it.

Ideally, I would like to use the wireless card to connect to my wifi, then have that connection shared through my lan card/ethernet port to my other computer.

I tried just connecting and then using the share this connection function, but no dice.

Any ideas?

You need a cross-over cable, not a regular LAN cable in this setting.

I think he means wireless laptop to access point, access point to PC - no cable needed except the USB cable for the access point presumably?

There should be no issue with this setup, assuming ICS is configured on the laptop, and the wireless is setup properly (e.g. WEP key etc, you may want to try with WEP off until you connect). Make sure the desktop has an IP address and can ping the laptop - and that the gateway is set as the laptop. Also make sure your DNS settings point to the same DNS servers as the laptop.
