Need to get out to the net to get virus sigs. Trend says it can't connect, and I can't start a browser session on the net.

Checked the IP config and all seems well. Internet connection is set to auto detect.

Any ideas ??? Tyrone Lumley

are you on a LAN, dialup, or home broadband? Check your IPCONFIG. Can you ping the gateway address?

Server is on lan, internet access through cayman router, DSL.

Yes, I can ping the gateway. IPconfig agrees with other computers in the company.

IP 192.168.0.230
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.0.1

OK. so, I'll assume the other computers are not having any problems? let's go one step further, can you ping a website by name? like yahoo.com?

Also what are your DNS's. I didn't notice if you were using Win98, ME, XP, or 2K/NT. When you run a "ipconfig /all" are your DNS's jiving with other computers. If not, that is you issue

i'm having this SAME problem, yet it's not a DNS entry in TCP/IP properties... The ipconfig /all checks out on the "problem" machine (the new one i'm trying to add). Clients DNS are set to the server IP. Then W2k server then forwards to forward to the router. I've manually added a DNS forward entry for each new client IP.

any ideas on what i've missed?
