Internet connection comes & goes ?

On cable connection this Compaq Presario SR1010Z keeps breaking internet connection 3-5 times a min. A balloon will appear stating there is little or no connectivity 3-5 times a min.

Here is what I have tried: Adding another ethernet card & disabeling onboard NIC, System restore, Winsock fix, Uninstalled IE7 which reverted back to IE6, reinstalled IE7, with still the exact same problem.

I know the cable connection is good as I have 2 other computers on the same line running fine

Any ideas as to where to go from here? I really don't want to do a reinstall unless it is a last resort.

Have you changed the cat5 patch cable running from that pc to the router/modem?

Yes I have eliminated that also. I don't think it is a browser issue either as I have tried opera, still the same

Have you plugged this computer into a different port? (one that is working for another computer)

The answer is "42"

I did try a known good port, no help. I have never seen this before so I am quite stumped by this problem.

Now i notice I am getting some red X's where pictures should be?

Solved, ended up being 2Wire Home Portal Monitor software not compatiable with customers new ISP. UGGHH! So If you ever have a similar problem, check for this software.
