Am new to the Server OS, so I ask for
patience as I get up to pace...I just did a brand
new installation of Windows Server 2003 Ent
Ed...and after the installation, the system
boots up and asks for me to do an update. But
the problem is that, it does not connect to the
internet even though the machine is connected
to my network.
How do I get my new installation to connect to
the internet?
Thanks

Make sure it is getting an IP address, do you have something doing DHCP?

Definitely check IP address and default gateway. Can you ping the router?

My guess is that you haven't installed the Network Drivers, if it's a HP server then get the latest "support pack" which will install all the relevant drivers. If its a Dell or other server then go to the support site for your server and download the correct Network Card drivers.

Then as the others say, make sure the network card has a valid IP address and gateway as per the other PC's on your network.

It's no different to a desktop PC other than the network drivers hardly ever install by default from the Win2K3 CD.
