Our location has just started using Peoplesoft, and have run aground from many issues, mainly performance ones.

One person has sent out a message, suggesting that people who use PS via Internet clear their IE cache out regularly, including during sessions, to improve PS performance.

This sounds dangerous to me:

Use the following steps:

1.From any page in PeopleSoft, go to the toolbar at the top of the page.
2.Choose, TOOLS
3.Choose, INTERNET OPTIONS
4.In the section labeled “temporary”, click on DELETE COOKIES, then OK
5.In the section labeled “temporary”, click on DELETE FILES, then OK
6.At the bottom of the window, click on OK.

Since I don't work in that group, but have to cope with the results, what problems could this cause with PS?

Hi,

Not sure that cache clearing will 'help' performnce - but it does make a difference:

Clearing the cache (I am assuming that you only mean the user's browser cache) will slow the loading of pages, but can be helpful when hitting some weird issues with cached data when doing configuration changes.

Occasionally you will also need to clear the appserver and web server caches - this seems to be required when making permission list/role changes or other major configuration changes. If this is done, the processes that fill these caches should be initiated to ensure that users are not overly impacted by the slow loading of pages.

The steps to clear the browser cache are fine - but not sure what your setup is with regards single-signon, session cookies etc so blowing away the cookies may not be the best idea...

Hope that is of some help.
