I have created a VB 6 application that uses ActiveX and DCOM in a three tier Intranet application. I can download version 1 to a Win 2000 worksation successfully. When I try to download version 2, the download fails. The ?CodeDownloadError file shows it fails loading MSVCRT.DLL with the message:

ERR: INF Processing: Failed (800c0300) processing: msvcrt.dll.

Cannot get primary/default language!LOG: URL Download Complete: hrStatus:0, hrOSB:800c0300, hrResponseHdr:0, URL:(
I have been working with Microsoft for more than a month and have not found a solution. Anyone else have problems with .CAB downloads created from VB 6? Only happens on Win 2000.

THanks for the help, Bob

We had the same problem for 3 months, installed the latest service pack (version 5) for vb6 just now, have tested it on 2 machines .........I think its working now. may this prevent many deaths to microsoft employees.

just to show you what the error was:

ERR: INF Processing: Failed (800c0300) processing: OLEAUT32.DLL
. Cannot get primary/default language!LOG: URL Download Complete: hrStatus:0, hrOSB:800c0300, hrResponseHdr:0, URL:(file://K:\Inetpub\scripts\BPS3\minix.CAB)
LOG: Reporting Code Download Completion: (hr:800c0300 (FAILED), CLASSID: 1b0ffc42..., szCODE:(file:///K:/Inetpub/scripts/BPS3/minix.CAB), MainType:(null), MainExt:(null))

The problem is related to the version of oleaut32, stdole2, olepro32 e asyn... that conflict with existing files on client machine.
A round around to this problem is to manually eliminate this four files from .inf and .ddf file and rigenerate Package
or
lower the version of this 4 files to x,y,1,z.
Therefore, this 4 files are automaticly installed when you install Internet Explorer 5.5 or later, then NO PROBLEM.
Bye.
