Internet Access

I have XP Pro installed in my computer which is connected to a proxy server. At first it had internet access and had no problems then one day it didn't connect to the internet. I checked my configuration and nothing has changed what was more odd was that it was connected to the Local Network I tried to ping the proxy server and it responded. I tried reinstalling XP Pro components and didn't work. Need help

check to see if the proxy is listed in the internet properties. disable any modems that might try to be connecting and any firewall software that might need adjusting.

thanx for the advise what happened was that i found a trojan and tried to fixed it then windows just went loko so i had to go for clean reinstallation of the software.
