Howdy,

Every so often, my web and email server looses access to the internet. I am running RedHat version 7.0 (kernel 2.2.?). I suspect that it may be the NIC card. I've looked at all the logs, and I just do not see any thing wrong. I don't see abnormal web or email activity. I don't see a DOS attack. When I reboot the server, it is fine. It will be fine for a day, two days, maybe three days, then I loose internet access. A simple reboot fixes the problem. Right now I have the server rebooting every day at 5 AM, but this is not a fix to the problem.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Hi,

That's difficult to comment on without more info . What kind of connection is it ? Is the 'gateway' on the same box or on another machine on the lan ? Is dhcp used on that card ?

Instead of re-booting, you can always just do as root :

# /sbin/ifdown eth0
# /sbin/ifup eth0

(assuming interface eth0)

or restart the whole network if you prefer :

# /etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart

Hope this helps
