happy 2006!! Just making my previous question clearer
I have installed a virtual test environment for ISA with a domain controller running windows 2003 with DNS installed. I have another windows 2003 server installed with the ISA 2004 enterprise edition. I also have a client running windows xp.
For test purposes i created an access rule allowing the internal network access to all protocols and all content on the external network. I also created a DNS Server Access rule allowing internal network DNS server access to internet DNS servers.
I have not installed the firewall client on the client machine and, I did not make any special entry in the internal DNS server but when i do the nslookup on the client machine, the name resolution for both internal names and external names is doing just fine.
With all this, i still can't access the internet from my client. What is the problem? However on the ISA server itself, i was able to get internet access when i allowed all outbound traffic from local host to external network.
I have searched isasever.org and other sites for the last 3 days and followed all instructions but no success.
These are the NIC details for the ISA server
External network card details: IP address = 10.48.198.13, Subnet Mask = 255.255.254.0, Default Gateway = 10.48.198.1, DNS = No Entries
Internal Network card details: IP address = 192.168.1.2, Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway = No entry, DNS = 192.168.1.1
