Considering how bloated software has become (in all it's iterations) faster transfer speed is definitely better. That along with the advent of molecular transistors will cause another quantuum leap in technology. Who knows we may be close to actual functional A.I. in the next five to ten.
Of course once Internet2 is available to the general public Internet3 will be deployed.
