I have a client that uses international LD a lot. They are going to double in size as far as staff. Right now we are using Cox for our international carrier and local PRI. They dial 9 then their intl. number.

I am considering an option to save them money of installing a few VONAGE analog lines, connect them to the Nortel MICS on an analog trunk card as regular POTS lines set up a separate dial pool code like [ 7 ] and that will connect them to the vonage analog lines. Local and domestic calls will use [ 9 ] as usual.

Vonage is pretty cheap compared to Cox. I am wondering what options you guys have used? Does Vonage have clear service to lets say Canada and China ( they call these countries a lot ) and they talk for a long time many times the calls are over a half hour because it is the customer and sales departments?

What is your suggestions?

Thanks!

In this area, most if not all telco providers have scrapped analog lines to the premisis and replaced it all with a router on the customer site that converts to analog to the customers' system. They work well, with very little quality issues.

Why are you using a separate dialling code? You'd be better off using lease cost routing based on the number dialled surely?

This is for international calling so there is no way to determine what the cost is for every single country and region in that country. I have checked with Vonage and the seem to be for home use only. They have a usage restriction that seems to imply that if the service is used a lot they will bill for extra charges. Does anyone know of an internet based service that will provide global long distance service via VOIP at a flat rate?

Thanks
