What could be cause and solution to this error?

[Mon Jun 9 09:44:54 2003] [error] [client xx.xx.xx.xx] (12)Not enough space: couldn't spawn child process: foo-bar

Added note: There are 5 other identical entries one after the other in the log file with the same time stamp.
