Internal PCI modem on OpenServer

I've got a Client trying to use a MultiTech MT5634ZPX-PCI internal modem. I've followed instructions on MultiTech's site where you perform a pci scan (hw -i pci) to locate the device, IRQ, and I/O Base Addr. But, when I try to set those parameters, I get an error stating it can't locate the device.
MultiTech thinks it might be an IRQ conflict (IRQ-5 is assigned to this card and one of the USB controllers).
Are there any good success stories out there with this scenario? I try to avoid internal modems on ANY server, but it's already been purchased.
As another approach, would it be OK to disable the USB controllers in BIOS? We won't be using them.
Thanks much!

Details: SCO OpenServer 5.0.7
Intel M/B (unsure of exact model)
OnBoard COM1 in use, OnBoard COM2 disabled.

It´s OK to disable the USB´s if you don´t need them.

Has MultiTech said the modem would work with SCO? regardless of this you should avoide using internal modems, as if they hang you need to reboot the machine, while with external you just need to do that to the modem.

I agree 100% about avoiding internal modems on servers, and for exactly the reason you mention.
The MultiTech states that it's been certified for SCO, so I'll try disabling the USB and reboot this Monday before this system is stated to go "live".
Thanks for the reply.
