Dear All,
can any one let me know how can I install internal modem in winnnt Server & Workstation. I tried so many times but not get success yet.

Pls help me.

Thanks

Hi,

After physically installing the hardware in the machine, you need to find some NT 4 drivers for it.
As NT4 doesn't support plug and play it won't be recognised with "Add new hardware" as the machine boots, so go to add new hardware in control panel, select modem as type, click "have disk" and feed the machine the driver disk or CD (or path where the files are located), let it load the drivers and then you should be fine.

Dear john thanks for ur valuable reply. But john I have driver for NT and I m able to install the Modem but when I tried to connect to internet it says that error 692 port is in use or used by another device or check ur hardware. I tried to install internal modem on winnt so many times but I didn't get success. when I install the modem it installs on COM2 port. I have driver for modems. I tried to install on COM 3 & COM 4 after adding these 2 extra ports in ports options form control panel but still problem is the same.

can u pls let me know why it doesn't work.

Thanks

How many serial ports does the computer have? Remember that with 2 serial ports the modem must be set to use com3 or com4, and then the modems control panel must be set to use that port - and the dial up networking must be set to use the modem.
