I am looking for source code to take an external floating point number in decimal and return an internal IEEE 754 floating point format in Hex (eight digits AB79CDEF). I then want to write this Hex number to a file. I have a project to write a translator for a machine tool that takes a simple ASCII text file that has lines of info like,

G01X1.2345Y-5567.34Z12.23456

parses out the floating point data and do the translation into the internal IEEE 754 format. My question is, do you know of any source code out there that may give me a jump start.

Thanks,

PChad
