I am installing a Partner ACS in a large complex for their garage telephones. The company has a three level internal parking garage with sixteen single line telephones throughout each level.

I am planning on installing a Partner 18D telephone (ext 10) at the lobby desk with a live attendant. The plan is if their is an incident a person in the garage can pick up the handset and ring to the attendant at the front lobby desk.

I am planning on using every available ext port for internal hotlines.

My question is Procedure #603 says not to assign hotlines to ext 10 or 11 or the first two extensions of any 206 or 308 because of power failure retrictions. To maximize all ports I was going to include with the either 308 or 509 processor, two 012 modules and two 308 modules.

My question is, do the rules change with the 012 module?

Since there are no lines on an 012, you can safely use the top 2 extension ports for your hotline extensions. If you have expansion 308 cards, and you don't have dial tone on the 1st and 2nd CO ports on the card, you can safely use the top 2 extension ports for your hotline extensions.

When used in a small motel, with Ext. 10 in the office, and room phones on Ext. 11 and up, I would put dial tone on CO-1, CO-3, CO-6 (3rd CO port on the 1st 308 expansion), then program the line buttons on to to be CO-1, CO-3, CO-6, but label them Line 1, Line 2, Line 3. During a power failure, the Office's Ext 10 jack gets CO line 1 for PFT, but none of the single line phones in the rooms get outside PFT dial tone.
