I just installed a dlink internal ethernet card along with the software, but now what do i plug into it on the back of my computer? In my windows system/devices it says it's unplugged.

An ethernet cable to a router, broadband modem, or switch.

A cross-over cable to another PC you want to network is another possibility.

A cat five cable, maybe? A DSL modem is always cool, as is DSL. (ask your provider).

Unplugged? Do you mean disabled? check in control panel/network whatever and right click to choose enable.
