Issue
AutoCAD® occasionally generates a fatal error, and the error message that is displayed begins with the word "DBQSPACE."
Solution
In AutoCAD, DBQSPACE is an object definition for the drawing that is used in the graphics subsystem of the application. An error referring to DBQSPACE indicates a problem in the graphics subsystem and is generally caused by an anomaly. After this error has occurred, the drawing is probably corrupt.
When this error occurs, try the following troubleshooting suggestions:
In Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows 2000, boot the computer in safe mode. In Windows NT 4.0, boot the computer in VGA mode.
If running AutoCAD from a network server, install AutoCAD as a stand-alone application.
Check System Resources.
Following is a list of suggested methods for recovering parts of a corrupt drawing:
Use the RECOVER command (from the File menu, choose Drawing Utilities > Recover).
Create a new drawing using the "Start from Scratch" option in the Drawing wizard and use the Insert command to insert the corrupt drawing (from the Insert menu, choose Block > File). (Insert the drawing as unexploded first, and then insert it as exploded).
If AutoCAD Map® is available, use its Query function to salvage parts of the drawing. If you are unfamiliar with these functions in AutoCAD Map, contact your reseller for help.
If Autodesk View® is available, open the drawing in Autodesk View and save the drawing as a DXF file. If you are unfamiliar with Autodesk View, contact your reseller for help.
