We have a short program which reindexes a few files which is run daily and has done so without problem for years. The files which is being reindexed is quite large. We have suddenly started receiving "Internal error 8" when running this. Anybody have any information on Internal error 8? Is there a source out there which defines all of these internal errors anyway?
Thanks

Would this happen to be a Summer '87 program? Extactly how large are these files, in terms of record number, are these files you are trying to index?

Yes, it is Summer '87, and there are 262,369 records. Thanks.

Internal Error 8 is a buffer error. The system ran out of database and/or index buffer handles.

This is a direct quote from a NG file. Try setting the Clipper environment variable as
'set clipper=F0127;R0040;E0000'

I have this line in a batch file along with other settings that prepares the system to run a Summer '87 program. I have not had any problems indexing the databases I work with and they contain 2 and 3 times the records you are working with.
