internal email & external Email

Please help?

When sending an email internally to jo.bloggs@domain.com, it arrives -smtp address is assigned to mailbox.

however outlook cannot resolve this address to a display name, nor can an LDAP query on the exchange server ? any ideas ?

does the internal email address exist, is there a public folder with the same email address
