I want my 4620 and 4610 phones go to speaker phone whenever they are called from another phone in my office. In Manager 5.0 I have assigned a button on each phone to "Internal Auto Answer". This works just the way I wanted it to with one exception. If a caller uses the dial by name feature of our auto attendant, the call is automatically answered on the phone being called. This is not the case if the caller dials by extension from the automated attendant. Any suggestions on how to solvel this issue?

That's freaky. This is just an idea, but try saving the value of $KEY to the $SAV variable (with a generic action) then transfer the caller to $SAV instead of $KEY.

I am new to the Avaya phones. I know how to create a Generic Action but do not know the syntax for setting the value of $KEY to the $SAV variable.

Thanks,
Steve

Sorry, it's like this:

Save:$KEY

Then you simply transfer to $SAV in your transfer token. Let us know if it works.

Thanks Peter,

I tried this with the same results as without it. It is strange that if I use dial by extension it is seen as an external call. But if I use dial by name it is seeing it as an internal call.

I started looking at the difference between in the way the dial by extension and dial by name were setup by our vender and discovered the only difference was dial by extension is using a transfer action and dial by name was using an assisted transfer action to accomplish the same thing. I changed dial by name to use a transfer action and it worked perfectly.
Thanks for you help Peter. Your responses helped me understand some things I could not seem to find in the documentation for our phone system.

Thank again,
Steve

Beware...

If you are using IP Office 3.0 and the Internal Auto Answer button is on if you recieve a Direct Dial In the phone can go hot mic.
