Good Afternoon,

I am having some ping issues. I try to ping my gateway from a win2000 box and it I let it keep pinging with -t it it replies and doesn't reply and replies and doesn't reply. Its very intermittent. It's not the gateway, for all other computers ping no problem. I have tried pinging other nodes with this box and same results occur...intermittent. Do you think I have a bad NIC? I have two adapters on the box that are teamed with Intel adapter teaming. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Wes H

is it consistent or completely random... Erik Rudnick, CCIE No. 9545

It is consistent. For instance, when you ping multiple computers from this node at the same time, it seems like it can't handle it. I think this is an issue with teaming the adapters with the intel teaming service. I took the teaming off yesterday and the problem appears to have gone away...what do you think?

i would say that it probably is an issue with the teaming, i don't have alot of experience with Intel teaming but from what i do know if the host was trying to use both NICs to load balance, and one wasn't working properly, a consistent 50 % of the pings would fail, depending on how the load balancing took place. If it was just sending the packets out one then the other, 50 % would fail, and you would see success then failure then success, etc. Erik Rudnick, CCIE No. 9545
