Our Meridian voice mail system is experiencing an intermittent problem where either the outgoing message or incoming messages are completely incomprehensible. The messages essentially sound like scratchy noise wavering in time with the amplitude of the message. Again, this problem is intermittent. Initially, we suspected that the problem was occurring when two or more people accessed the voicemail system at the same instant (small user base), but we have been unable to confirm this. Any thoughts?

We experienced the same problem - caused us some confusion. Basically it happens when an extension tries transfers a call, if the other extension doesn't answer, goes through to voicemail, and the extension tranferring the call doesnt end the transfer correctly i.e. they don't tranfer or go back to the original caller without ending the transfer call, you will get the strange sound. Try it, make a call to an enxteion, answer it, press transfer and wait for voicemail "don't transfer or end the call", press the DN button to get back to the original call, end call. After a few minutes the extension where you tried to transfer to, it's voicemail light will appear. This is a user related error, you'll need to educate the users to end the transfer correctly if you don't want your hard drive filled with crap.

Also... if you haven't already done so, check the SEER, in Meridian Mail, to see if anything abnomal has been occuring to the system.
