Hi Guys,
Oddest thing. During the backup the NetWare server 5.1 latest support pack (5 i believe), i try pinging the server and get very erratic responses with large amounts of timeouts. That said, this server is only getting about 400 MB/minute in the backups.
I know the problem isn't ARCserve as I have seen this build on another NW server at above 1400 MB/minute.
I have increased buffers as per the novell development article at novell.com and have the server RAM at 4 GB with cache buffers at 70% free.
Logically seems like either - A problem with the NIC card and/or switch whence porting large amounts of data. OR a problem with NetWare Input Outpu cache buffers not able to keep things streaming (not sure exactly which buffers these would be).
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, in the hot water with this one.
