This is WinXP Pro, on a linksys wrt54g router, using WEP 64bit key, the 802.1 (or whatever) authentication checkbox is un-checked, and Wireless Zero Config is Disabled, and for the machine in question, I'm using the adapter's (dlink dwl120+ USB) client software for config.
On this machine, occasionally (about every 10 min or so) I'll see in the systray a red X through the network connections icon. However, the nework adapter client iconis next to it, and it shows all green bars, and says 'signal strentth Excellent'. Other machines don't seem to have this issue.
If I do nothing, the red X just goes away after a few seconds, and all is fine. But if the timing is such that I'm just suring to a web page or something, I'll get the "This page is not available offline", and there'll be a 'Connect' button, which I hit and all is fine and well.
So it seems that the radio connection is always ok, but the actual network/wep login connection drops and reconnects itself. All that I've been able to google seems to point to Wireless Zero Config--which I've disabled, or that 802.1 authentication--which I've unchecked. Any ideas on this?
Thanks,
