I have a DNS Server. Every once in awhile I loose DNS res. for 5 minutes. There are errors in the OS event log that don't even co-incide with the times I loose DNS so I am sure they don't have anything to do with the problem. I have a IDS sensor sitting on the same piece of my network as the DNS server is and there isn't anythign fishy going on when I loose resolution. It comes back after 5 minutes, if not you do a hard re-boot and everything is hunky dory again. Cached stuff like Yahoo and other sites are cool... those that arent tend not to work. I do get regular zone Xfers and confirm them on my IDS system, so I doubt updating is a problem. Help!!

Is there networking problems at this time between PC and DNS server might be worth doing a ping -t to the dns server and write to a txt file and check. Njoy!

We have since installed W2K Pro and configured it to be a DNS server and have had considerable changes (positive) in reliability and stability of resolution. Thanks to all (1) of you who took the time to give me your opinions.
