I have recently reinstalled a win 98 operating system (that was on one partition of the hard drive). I left the other partitions alone to save further agro. Since this operation, the zip drive is intermittent - ie sometimes it operates fine, other times it appears visable in my computer, but cannot be accessed (same message as when you try to access a CD that is not in the drive) and other times it does not even show up in my computer.

Would this be a hardware issure or software (should i start by reinstalling the IOMEGA zipdrive software?)

Thanks in advance

Andrew

Normally I would say the hardware is faulty. But it does sound suspicious.

Do you have the DOS drivers and any way to get a DOS installation working with the drive? Testing that way will eliminate the software as the problem.

Where would i find the dos drivers and when/if i find them do i just replace the existing drivers?

Once that is done, can i just test it is recognised by going into DOS and testing if i can access from there?

Thanks for your help, Ed.

Andrew

The DOS command line driver is named guest. I don't know if it is on the support CD that comes with the drives or not. It was on a support floppy with mine. But that was probably 6 to 8 years ago.
