We have an intermittent problem in that some calls to a user are not going voicemail on no answer.

Some times if he is in a meeting he will let the phone ring to have VM pick up but it just rings and rings with no answer by VM.

I cant see any issues but maybe a fresh set of eyes will help. Of course I cannot duplicate the issue.

Try yourself. See if you can get it to fail. When you get the ring no answer, quickly place the call on hold and then come back off hold and it should tell you what the port is.

If you get the failure on the same port, you could have a bad port.

I am actually replacing a serve this weekend because of this very same reason.

Or you can test during very low volume time and use the channel monitor to see what port you are hitting, or even disable all the ports and enable one at a time to see which one give you the problem.

Hope this helps.

Everything looks good on the TN. How about ports on your voice mail? Login to voice mail and check the port status.

that's typical if all vm ports are busy.. it's an acd group, so you get rna not a busy. assuming the called number is key 0, and marp is turned on, it would be impossible to program a phone to go to mail part of the time, without some strange type of time of day routing.

so if the guys name xxxx, or xxxxx? or is xxxx just his nickname?

The VM is an 8 port Meridian mail. Here is a key part I forgot to mention. This phone is on a remote. It is connected to the main site that has the MerMail with a Tie T-1. This seems to happen weather it is a call coming in through the local analog trunks or routed from the main office via the Tie.

We call him little X for short. His boss is Big X.

I haven't seen this happen on Nortel, but our Siemens system will sometimes do it after the phone has been forwarded. Its almost like the phoneset is confused at which target to hit. So, all I have to do is forward the phone to a different destination and then change it back to voicemail. You could even try nulling his CFW and tell him not to program a forward for a week or so to see if the issue still happens :) Maybe his forward key is sticking and there is some issue with 2867 - dunno since we don't have that phone build posted.
But yes, the phone build looks correct.

Or you can try adding an MSB key on key 2 and he can press that when in a meeting so the phone doesn't have to ring to get to voicemail (do not disturb). Another thing to check is if you have x2873 setup on his voicemail account :) Cuz if he is using his phone during the meeting calls will roll to his next line.

Now you tell us Mr. X is on a REMOTE! Depending on what type of remote you are using, the PBX will see the set at default and ring there forever. Your T-1 has something to do with that, in that the signal craps out and resets, and the remote doesn't.
