Is there any command/way to identify what interfaces I have ? ( In the process of setting up Virtual IP addresses)

I understand that, but I would like to get a list of possible interfaces that I can use to set up virtually.

Cheers,

Sorry I'll elaborate,
There are 2 interfaces set up on one of our box's
pointing to 2 different IP's.

and 3 on another pointing again to 3 VIP's.

Is there a limit to the ammount interfaces that you can use for virtual addressing and does anyone know the format for setting them up ?

Cheers,

i've had 4 ip's on the same card, and it didn't complain ... i now have 3 cards, so i guess it wouldn't be too hard for me to have a large amount of interfaces ...

/etc/hostname.<device>:<number>

holding the name from the /etc/hosts file for your ip seems to set up the devices happily on boot up :)

don't flame me if i'm wrong now, been a while since i had multiple IP's (i use SAMBA to announce different hostnames now)
