We are looking for a vendor solution or a Groupwise customized enhancement that will allow us to interface our Groupwise 5.2 software to a contact database named ACT!.
Has anyone out there solved this issue???

Hi.
The only way to get ACT working with Groupwise is by enabling SMTP relay on the Groupwise box & setting up ACT to use SMTP. This is, of course, a security problem. I've conducted extensive research for 2 clients & have yet to find a product that will allow ACT to integrate with Groupwise mail, address books, etc.

My recommendation is for you to look at a product called ContactWise from Grouplink. It natively integrates with Groupwise, uses NDS, and has security mechanisms (ACT has NO security capbilities because it was never made for corporate use).

Unfortunately, I have extensive experience with ACT. It's fine as a single user product, but has serious issues when used in a corporate environment, particularly when synchronization is needed for remote users.

If corporate leadership prevents you from looking at other products, try to steer them away from the desire to use ACT as an email client.

Good luck ------------
