Hello There

My friend manually assigned IP address for 4226 switch and now he forgot the IP address. Is there a way I will be able to detect the IP address as I know he didn't put any password on that, only problem is the identification of IP address. or is it possible to reset the switch as factory default. Thanks

Farhan

There are two things you can do:
1) Do a hard reset on the switch. This will cause the switch to reboot and it will be as unconfigured as it was when it was brand new.

2) Since there aren't any passwords on it, you can go to the switch and connect to it through a terminal cable. Once there you can view the configuration, which will have the switches IP address. If you don't know how to terminal into a switch, send me an email and I'll give you a description. I've never done it with the particular switch you have, but if its a CISCO it should be similar to what I've done in the past.
