interesting problem with a .forward file

I have .forward file that is automatically populated with email addresses from a database. The number of email addressess that are in this particular .forward file range from 950 to 1500 depending on certian variables.

The problem is this, if I (marknelson@company.com) send to the distribution list (distlist1@sendmailserver.com) the email will go out to everyone on the list, except me, and I am included in the .forward file.

I have tried this with a simple 5 person .forward file and it works fine. Unfortunately I can't test to see where the fail point is due to the reaction I would get from the user community.

This is 8.9.3 version of Sendmail btw.

Any Ideas?

Thank you for the reply. I read the link but let me clarify how this is setup.

None of the emails listed in the .forward file are local emails. For example, the local host is me.com. All the email addresses in the .forward file are First.Last@companyname.com.

When a person wants to send to the list they send an email to list1@me.com and it would be from first.last@companyname.com.

I can check the .forward file and I am 100% positive that the email address first.last@companyname.com is in the .forward file.

When I check the mail.log I can see the name previous to the first.last@companyname.com and after, but the senders email is missing from the log.

In thinking about this, I might try to \ the email address of the known sender manually in the .forward file and see if that makes a difference.

Any other ideas would be appreciated and I will keep this up today as to my findings as well.
