Hi All

A couple of weeks ago, we downloaded our web imports into Goldmine like we always do. They come in an email and when we open them they create the records etc.etc. In any event, on that particular day all seemed fine until we tried to filter out these records. None of them can be find using the create date! Nothing comes up but the records are there and they look fine. FR Support said the indexes are screwed but I tried their suggestoons and nothing. Any ideas? We run several reports all the time and to have 50+ records not showing up kinda messes up our stats. GM Version is 6.0

TIA

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the reply. I did find out the problme but not the cause. :( I had to manually modify about 50 date entries in the contact1 dbf. file. Not sure why they got messed up as the accountno entry had the correct dates but the createon field was incorrect. Go figure. ;)

Have a good one,

Pikk

This is a common web import problem. When you create records via web import, the createon field isn't filled in automatically. It would behoove you to include it as part of your webimport script's data...

Another field to look at including in the web import script's data submission is STATUS. If you don't, you'll end up with records with BLANK status values which can cause all manner of strange issues with record curtaining, ownership, phone formatting, etc. etc.

Hi Doug

Thanks for the advice. I'll pass this on to our dev people.

Have a great weekend!

Doug,

Interestingly enough...it happened again. This time instead of having incorrect date values in my "createon" fileds...they were blank! Funny thing though, this only happens over the weekend and only twice now in 4 years.

Once again I opned the table in Access and added the correct date info.

Any thoughts? I can send you the script that our web people use to generate the imports if you think that may help.

Thanks again!

Never update GoldMine's tables using Access, Excel, etc. Only use GoldMine's UI or a third party program like GoldBox designed to do this.

... to over come your problem. If you have an automated process that 'processes' the web import add a step to update the createon field in GM with date().

Thanks guys for all your help on this. It has now been resolved. Turns out it was a problem with the script that our "new" web design company setup to work with our new website and forms.

As for using Access to modify data in GM, thanks for the heads up and the concern but...I've been doing this for years and years with no fallout or problems. In fact...the vendor that we used to use for our GM maintenance back in the day, always used Access to modify our tables. And these guys were certified GM specialists.

Thanks again!
