Interesting Forbes article about Cognos Corp.

Forbes had a brief but interesting article on Cognos. Thought some of you might find this of interest.

True, Cognos has been moved down the sales rankings because of this new merger, but keep in mind that even with BO's acquisition of Crystal, they still can't complete with Cognos when it comes to an entire solution as well as reporting requirements. Not to mention the fact that the 'next-generation' product ReportNet, will beat all competition hands down in future sales situations.

Seems to me that this is BO's attempt at maintaining market share, instead of gaining some. In my opinion, they should spend less time, and money, on making 'outdated' acquisitions and more time on developing new technology!

Perhaps the "threat" of Mr Z in the buff will cause all those wavering in their decision to buy ReportNet to get their chequebooks out....
