This is similar to archived thread117-51248

I am getting the following error when I stop debugging an ASP application in InterDev 6.0, SP5

DEVENV.EXE - Application Error: The instruction at "0x5e008236" referenced memory at "0x029d0944". The memory could not be "read".

The instruction location and memory address change, are not the same each time. InterDev blows out with this error and has to be restarted. Sometimes I have to restart the PC to get going again.

I have tried reinstalling Interdev. I have tried a couple of suggested fixes that I found in forums, but nothing has helped. Anyone have a fix for this? Thanks.

Have you tried updating MDAC and applying the latest service pack fixes? Not sure if there is anything else you can try short of buying a new machine, perhaps...

I am running MDAC 2.7 SP1 REFRESH on a Windows 2000 OS with SSQL 7.0. Is there a reason why you suspect MDAC? DEVENV.EXE is not listed as a component of MDAC.
Thanks.

I had done a quick Google search to see if the problem had been encountered/resolved before and the first several returns were somewhat inconclusive. But the first thing to check in most cases was the two that I had mentioned above.

I am not sure what other advice to offer you at this point. I remember having a similar issue at one point and believe I had to update my service packs in order to get it to work correctly. But it has been a while... Sorry I can't offer anything more... :-(

I'm having the same problem. Did you find a solution. Reinstall of visual interdev did not help.

I did not find a solution to this problem. I suspect that the problem lies in updates made to IE, and IE does not play nice with InterDev anymore, but that's just a hunch on my part. I opened a support ticket with Microsoft, the result being that MS said that InterDev is beyond its supported lifecycle, so I'm basically SOL. Wonderful.

I have this same problem from time to time.

The issue comes from a seemingly 'corrupt' project file. If you try to refresh, sync, or get latest version then it will blow.

I have a project with 5 sites in it, and at least once a month it blows. I have done TONS of research and found that this could be caused by corrupt profiles for interdev, all the way to a corrupt windows user profile (neither of which proved to help with the issue after removing all profile and template files for interdev and creating a new windows user for testing).

The ONLY solution I have found is to recreate the project from scratch using the New Project option from the File menu. After you recreated the project (which must be named different than the original) be sure to delete the old project directory to avoid confusion. You will then be able to refresh, sync, and get latest files from your site without the program blowing. That is of course until InterDev decides it doesn't like you again.
