I have a few cisco 2620s that I am planning to use to build a lab for ccnp practice. The router hardware configs are the same on all 3: one ethernet and 2 T1 (wic-1t) modules. (They are T1 routers that will be decomissioned soon...lucky me !)
I have seen cable makers advertising rj-45 t-1 crossover cables. Has anyone used the T1 as a means to interconnect the routers ? If it really is a viable way to connect them then I will go ahead and buy the cable. If not, I may opt to purchase additonal ethernet or serial modules (a bit more costly then I would like)
Thanks for any help you can Provide !

Ok, well in my lab I have routers that all have the DB-60 interface, but there is a good website that one of the guys on this site has that has a diagram of the pin outs of a T1 back-to-back with RJ-45's. Here's the link:

Like I said I haven't used it, but maybe someone else has. Just an idea. I'm sure it's possible.

Let me know if this helps.

I needed to do the same thing in a test lab and successfully made a cable for connecting the T1 interfaces using a pinout I found on the web. If I remember right, I had to play with the T1 controller commands on the router to make it work. One of the routers needs to have the clocksource set to internal and the other external. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Thanks for the info !
I will build a crossover using the diagram and see if it works. If I get it running I'll write something up and post it here.

Thanks for all the help everyone !

I know the cable works as I made it for myself first before posting it ;)

It's been tested with both the T1-WICs and using CRAY CSU/DSUs.

I am looking to do the same thing. Did you have any success with your attempt.
